Driven Obsession
was founded by lead singer Rick Malott in October of 1993 as
Obsessive Aggression and played as a heavy metal and hard rock cover
band before writing a string of songs including Distant Dreams
(Spring 94), Tyrant (Fall 94), Onslaught (Winter 94),
Man of Misery (Spring 95), Look Out (Spring 95),
Ill Be There (Spring 95), Ill Fall In Love Again (Winter
95), and Go Away (Winter 95).
In 1996, 3 original members left
the band for musical differences. Rick and guitarist Rob Anderson
forged on. The band hired bassist Johnathan Magee and set out to
find a drummer. Mike Gregory joined the band in the summer of 96 and
the band wrote Hard Habit To Break during his audition.
During the next year, the band enjoyed some success at both gigging
and creating songs as they wrote Tides Of War and Shallow
And Cold but found themselves searching for another drummer by
the winter of 1997. After a year, and several disappointments with
the lack of progress in the drummer department, the band split up.
In winter of 2002, Rick, Rob, and
John decided to reform the band. After several months, they found
hard-hitting drummer Collin Lademann and set out to rock the world.
Adopting the name Driven, they went to work on what will be their
debut album, Driven Obsession by writing She (Summer
03) to complete the previous material. The band made their first
appearance in 5 years before 600+ screaming fans at the Durand
Benefit Concert in Durand, MI June 19th 2003. Shortly after, Rick
needed surgery to have his tonsils removed.
Now recovered, the band is setting
to push forward. One more snag stood in the way, however, as the
band discovered that there were several other bands in the United
States called Driven. The band quickly decided to adopt a new name.
Incorporating the Obsessive from the original band and meshing it
with the new name they arrived at Driven Obsession. Get
obsessed as they drive home some of your favorite hard rock &
classic rock music in their melodic style. |
